Every year, sales of big screen TVs spike before the Superbowl. The days leading up to the event are the most important for TV retailers behind Black Friday. According to a survey by the Retail Advertising and Marketing Association, over 2.5 percent of Superbowl views will have bought a new TV for the event. That's at least 4.5 million people who bought a TV just for the football game (and the commercials, of course). TV retailers have come up with creative incentives for potential buyers. One store called the Sound Room, located in Missouri, offered a full refund on TV purchases between Jan. 13 and Feb. 5 if the first or second half kickoff is returned for a touchdown. Not only did this promotion kick up sales 40 percent, David Young, the president of Sound Room, is able to relax because an insurance policy will cover the possible refunds.
