As you know, I like to write about new software and other technology products from time to time. This time, my post is about something I've actually been involved with. Oh, Ranger! has just released a free iPhone app, the Oh, Ranger! ParkFinder.Oh, Ranger! publishes printed guides to national parks and forests and maintains a searchable database of public lands on its website. That database has now been made accessible through an iPhone app. Users put in their location, chose from a variety of activities, and then lists parks nearby with those activities available. Each park has detailed descriptions, including directions, a map of the park, and information on all activities available at the park.
I highly recommend all iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad users who enjoy travelling and the outdoors to check it out.
Not only is the app free for users, but Ford has sponsored the app and has made donations to Tread Lightly and the Student Conservation Association.
